Sony develops application CPU for CLIE products

Sony Corp. has announced the development of the "Handheld Engine" application CPU that will be incorporated into the company's CLIE PEG-UX50 line of products. The engine is designed to function as the heart of the CLIE products, which features low-power consumption, and offers A/V performance advantages such as smooth video playback at low clock speeds by utilizing low-voltage, large capacity/wide bandwidth 64Mb embedded DRAM technology, and 0.18[$micro]m production process.
The DVFMTM (Dynamic Voltage and Frequency Management) technology achieves efficient power consumption by automatically selecting a clock rate, and then adjusting the power supply voltage to match the monitoring speed.
The application CPU also contributes to the miniaturization of the CLIE devices by integrating various IF functions including a 2D graphics engine, camera interface, and Memory Stick interface unto a single chip.

之前用的 MedaiQ 也是圖形 / 多媒體 DSP 經片..
