The Virtual Keyboard (VKB) is now available from iBIZ Technology Corp. This device attaches to handhelds and uses a laser to project the image of a full-size keyboard onto the surface of the desk where the handheld is placed, allowing the user to input text without a physical keyboard.
It provides a full-size QWERTY keyboard including Function keys, but the projector weighs only two ounces and is similar in size to a disposable cigarette lighter.
iBiz says it works well even in well-lit offices, but not outdoors.
The VKB has a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery that lasts three to four hours.
The iBIZ Virtual Keyboard is compatible with Palm, Pocket PCs, laptops, and desktop PCs. It can be used with all palmOne models with the Universal Connector and the Treo 600. It works with all Sony Clies using that company's current standard connector. There is also a version for most iPAQ models and another for the Dell Axim X5.
The Virtual Laser Keyboard is available for $99.99 from iBIZ's own web store.
A version for cell phones will be available in the fourth quarter.
