the DWL-G650 that first came out had some notable problems. I tried it and it would only auto-connect to B networks at 2mbps. Also, it had about half of the range of the 650+ adapter.

The first DWL-G650 (which they now call A1) used the PRISM chipset.

I just saw today that the second DWL-G650 (B1) uses an Atheros chipset. I wonder if this fixed some of the problems that they had?

Hopefully it did, but i learned my lesson and will not use G stuff until well after the IEEE specification is entirely ratified and everybody else has tried it before me

I now use a g650+ and a 614+ router for my personal use. When i am at other schools/etc many of them have Cisco Aironet products and everything seems to work fine.

The latest experimenting is with the new 4x mode that they have been testing. I seem to get more drops on normal B networks with 4x mode on.
