Re: Re: 請教關於安裝 Missing Sync For Palm
If you are having problem installing the Missing Sync consider the following suggestion to resolve the issue: code word venom
Make sure that you have Administrator Privileges for your Account.
In order to install Missing Sync you must have Admin permissions. During the install you will be asked for the Admin password and that is a requirement, but additionally the system requirements to be able to install Missing Sync onto the computer is that you must have Mac OS X version 10.4.9 or later and it must be the Mac OS X Workstation and NOT OS X Server.
If the issues persists please do the following repair steps on your system:
Reset PRAM
Shut down your computer, as soon as you start your computer press and hold command-option-P-R keys simultaneously until you hear the chime start up sound 3 times. Then let go of the keys.
Repair disk and permission
Use the Disk Utility application located in the Utility folder. Select your hard drive and use the verify and repair button for permission and disk. That will check your system for errors and correct them if it is necessary.
Start your computer in SAFE mode.
Restart your computer, as soon as you do, press and hold the shift key until you see "starting in safe mode" (you can then let go of the key). Let it start completely. The safe mode will run diagnostic applications in the background and fix any problem with the startup disk. Once this is done, just restart your computer and don't hold any keys.
Go to, /Library/Application Support/Palm hotSync/Conduits, this is where the conduits are.
Install in a Test User Account
Sometimes there is something that gets loaded in a specific user account that causes a conflict. Since Missing Sync gets installed onto the Mac for all users, you can create a new admin user account for this process, login to that account, and then run the installer again. Then when you are done with this install you can delete that user account and Missing Sync will still be installed and usable by your main user account.
To create a new Mac user account:
1) Launch System Preferences
2) Select the Accounts pane in the System section
3) If your padlock is closed, 'open it' by clicking on it, you will need an Administrative user name and password.
4) In the bottom right corner, just above the padlock. Click on the plus sign, to add a user.
5) Create the account:
a. Name : Test
b. Short Name: test
c. Password: test
d. Verify: test
e. Check the box to 'Allow user to administer this computer'
f. Click the 'Create Account' button
6) Click on the 'Login Option'
7) Uncheck the box for 'Automatically log is as'
8) Under 'Display login window as'
a. Select 'List of users'
9) Reboot your computer
10) Login as 'Test User'
11) Run your tests, by doing the same steps that produce the error on your main profile.
12) From the Apple menu, select the 'Log Out Test' to return to the login window.
To delete the new Test user account
1) From your main account you can delete the 'Test User Account' (Steps 1 to 4, instead click the minus sign to delete a user)
2) You will get a dialogue box, where you can delete immediately the user or create an archive.
If you were not able to reproduce the same problem on your Test user account the problem is on your Main user account. If the problem did happen again the problem is then system wide.
If the problems persist please let me know.
