Hi,

Nvidia said that SLI would be God's gift to the graphics industry.  The press are calling it something else, pointing to massive numbers of driver bugs, defective BIOS components, lack of product availability for months, performance lower with two cards than with one in some games like HL2, poor game compatibility, visual artifacts, high cost, excessive heat and noise, and the list goes on.  See quotes below.  And of course, pass it on.

先不論不同的 chipset 比較, 因為我不玩 game 所以不同 chipset 之間的性能差異對我沒影響, 但是這兩個品牌比起來, 我本身對 ATI 很反感, 因為公司有幾百台電腦, 什麼顯示卡都有, 而其中 ATI 是讓  MIS 最頭痛的 !!  Because:

ATI: Many drivers for one card  -> 常常不知道怎麼選!!
nVidia: One driver for many cards -> 下載一個檔就搞定了!!

巷子裡的人都知道 ati  的 driver team 常常搞一些豬頭事件(雖然現在改進很多)..........

DRIVER方面的確是N寫的比較好
不過現在ATI也有改進了

nVidia 不是也有一些"他牌"的dirver可用嗎??

當然有啊, 但是我不是在說買顯示卡附的 CD, 你如果有 CD 就一個蘿蔔一個坑不會搞混 (就算 ATI 也是一樣好搞).  我說的是當你卡上有顯示卡, 知道型號, 卻沒有 CD, 必須到 internet 上面找 driver 的時候, ATI 和 nVidia 就差很多了

或許這樣說很模糊又沒有說服力, 但是相信曾經手幾百台電腦的 MIS 人員會深有同感.  我來舉個實例好了,

我櫃子裡現在正好有:

一張 nVidia GeForce 256
一張 nVidia GeForce2 MX400

一張 ATI XPert2000 Pro
一張 ATI ALL-IN-WONDER 128


這四張卡時期差不多, 假設我 CD 都已經遺失, 須要driver, 大家作個實驗,  請各位先到 www.nvidia.com 去找第一, 二張卡給 Windows 2000 的 driver.

找到之後, 再到 www.ati.com 去找第三, 四張卡給 Windows 2000 的 driver. 一兩分鐘之後, 當你開始問自己... "XPert2000 在那裡" 或是  "瞎米 WONDER"  的那一刻, 優劣孰分.

這是因為在那時ATI還是自行生產顯示卡，所以在使用相同顯示晶片（RAGE128 SERIES）但是功能不同（AIW的卡可以讓PC看電視）的情況下，自然產品名稱會不一樣.............後來開始把晶片賣給其他廠商生產顯示卡以後，現在都是RADEON ？？？？晶片了..........

ati的驅動程式，其實我都用猜的~~不行再換吧，或者讓os自己比對機碼~~

新版 ATI driver for Win 2000 還規定要先裝 SP4 才成。

還要裝DirectX 9吧~~~不過NVIDIA不要太新的卡最近windows update可以直接抓到，爽!!!不過win2k sp4應該是常態了~~

我也是，不過要改了，一堆東西沒有裝sp不給裝，裝了sp和windows update之後很多東西也不用裝，作業系統內建或許效能比較差，不過一般是比較穩。
