Datebk6 的第一個測試版本剛放出來, 當然還是有一些Bug和不穩定
但想要嚐鮮的人可以去下載, 發現Bugs 可直接在yahoo group回報
CESD會等測試版本較穩定後, 再公佈Datebk6的官方正式版

I've now posted the first beta preview of DateBk6 at this URL:

NOTE: THIS IS THE FIRST POSTED PREVIEW. I am not recommending that everyone immediately download this preview. If you are the kind of user that responds to a beta preview with a comment like "Found typo in the About dialog, oh well, back to DateBk5", then you might want to pass up on the first few
preview postings
For most users, it should be reasonably stable as a beta preview. During some preliminary testing, it seems it should not be a problem for most users. It typically makes it through a million+ passes of an automated tester, although unlike most apps, DateBk6 is so complex that even a million passes barely scratches at the surface of all the potential combinations of preference items. I did once calculate that even if all the expected life forms on all planets in the universe spent 10 hours a day testing DateBk6 since the inception of life, that would still be inadequate to test all possible combinations <g>.

Grayscale devices may exhibit odd behavior as not all the grayscale resources have been inserted yet, but all color devices should be fine. Make sure you read through BOTH the HTM files before installing this.

Note that although there is a 45-day trial period on DateBk6, this is will only be a free upgrade for those people who purchased Datebk5 or paid for a DateBk4/5 upgrade from DateBk3 since January 1, 2005. Price has not yet been determined for the DateBk6 upgrade, but will be posted shortly. Also, I am
not set up yet to handle the automated generation of DateBk6 registration codes from the database, although I do expect to have that working shortly.

If you downgrade to DateBk5 from DateBk6, about the only issue you'll face is that the ToDo tag format was extended in Datebk6 and is not completely
backwards compatible, so you may find some attributes such as color, font etc. lost if you go back to DateBk5.

Note that the hiding and displaying of ToDo's differs in Datebk6 due to the addition of new fields (such as urgency) and due to the comprehensive sorting feature.

A few more minor features are still expected to make it into the final official release, but at this point the major core functionality is complete.

Have fun playing with the Today View - that's probably one of the most visible new options, and yes, I will be looking at supporting SnapperMail as well as the currently implemented VersaMail. Don't be surprised if I don't respond to all queries on the forum as I am still very tied up with chasing down some device-specific bugs and also spending time with comprehensive testing.

The small group of very experienced users that have already been playing around with a pre-preview release are active members of this forum, and will probably be able to chime in with comments about the new release.
