宏碁 vs palm????

宏碁和palm之跟的問題發生已經很久了，不知道可不可以談一談。
有沒有人知道那時到底是發生了什麼樣的問題啊！我好想要知道哦！如果
事情隔了那麼久還是不能說的話，那可不可以pm給我，我只是一個好奇寶寶
想要知道那時的宏碁和palm之間到底是發生了什麼事情，最後導致，宏碁不再
做palm的產品…。

還有就是，我不知道我這一個問題是要發在那，是算硬體呢！還是軟體…因為
palm授權給宏碁做pda上的作業系統，所以，理論上應該是屬於韌體的部份，
也就是說我發在軟體區會比較好。如果我發錯地方，請站長幫我改一下，讓
這一篇的文章到它該去的地方，謝謝。

In the breach of contract suit, PalmSource is seeking approximately $4.5 million in unpaid royalties and maintenance and support fees under the previous licensing agreement between PalmSource and Acer. Acer answered by filing a counterclaim seeking $4.9 million from PalmSource, including amounts Acer paid under the agreement. Acer alleges that PalmSource breached the software licensing agreement by failing to provide development and marketing support. Acer further alleges the same conduct violated the implied covenant of good faith and dealing and PalmSource provided preferential treatment to Acer's competitors.

這是官方說法, 不過也講出了7成的原因了...
palmsource 的確一點marketing support都沒給, technical 也是死要$$
剩下的一點點因素則是跟market share 有關.

不過palmsource也想獨力自己在大陸搞不是嗎?
可年的老外真的忘了一句成語:

我也是支持palm的，但是我害怕，palm跟pcc之間就像以前的windows和另外一
個系統一樣，之前那一個系統的總裁不願意把他的資源放出來，造成目前
windows一黨獨大…因為我記得不是很清楚，所以說不對的話，請大家更正一
下。
目前的palm的處境似乎是跟之前與windows與另一個系統一樣，我想palm如果
真的想著眼於未來的話，應該多找一些硬體廠商來幫忙…把這一個系統弄的
更普遍化，這樣palm才能賺到錢啊！

我想很多人都是對palm恨鐵不成鋼..
但是, 它真的爭氣嗎?

OS小改版間的不相容, 搞死多少程式開發者?
對Unicode 及 java的support誠意在哪?
對OS lincencee 的marketing support?
主動自發性的roadshow, conference, developer forum一有幾場?

M$的OS lincence雖然貴, 但是至少它有幫助OEM partner很多事, 尤其
是在marketing方面, 更別提每年數場的Windows TechED, WinHec了...
