軟體路由器..

請問有沒有可在XP下跑的軟體路由器.

小弟我從來沒接觸過這個領域; 煩請先驅者教導.

XP本身可以做.只要你有夠的卡/wifi.
看一下xp網路設定精靈的說明
要是你要讓很多張卡都分享其中一張卡的連線的話，還可以安裝網路橋接器..

Windows XP has built in internet sharing software like thatcloud mentioned, and there are also other software such as Sygate.  You could also have a Linux machine do the routing.

However, I would recommand just get a hardware router instead, there are many cheap ones out there that will do the job.  Since unless you intend to keep the machine up all the time doing the sharing, it is not worth the trouble or the machine's resource.

現在已經不是4,5年前,
用一台電腦($1萬以上)+一台 switch($600)不停開著作分享,
不如買一台家用寬頻路由器/IP分享器($1, 2000之內),
除了省錢還省電.

ICS 很簡單設定啦, 但是新手常常忽略的一點就是你接上 internet 那一台必須要有兩張網卡!  

今天晚上才幫一個朋友的客戶設定 xbox 經由 laptop 上網, 接法如下:

xbox --(crossover cable)-- laptop --(WiFi)-- Internet

十分鐘搞定(包括 xbox 端先用另一台 laptop 模擬測試)
賺了 $30,  呵呵

Sometimes it's not about whether or not it worth the trouble -- Not everyone has control on the router that they use to connect to the Internet.

The case I worked on yesterday (as mentioned above) is a good example.  The guy lives in a school dorm and school provides both WiFi and CAT5 wall plate for students to go online.  However he can't connect his XBOX through there because the school has firewall and does not allow XBOX Live traffic.

So what he does is to connect to someone else's wireless network (which he doesn't even know who the owner is, where the device is) from the laptop, and he has to to do ICS directly from the laptop to let XBOX go online, no other way around, it's not about the $$ to invest on a hardware router.

I wouldn't say using someone's connection a good solution to your friend's problem.  What happens if that someone decided to enable security on the router?  Also, if your friend got a wireless adapter for XBox, wouldn't he be able to connect to that AP without the use of ICS or any kind of software routing?

Yes, I agree, when there is no other way but to use a software routing method, then by all means, do so.  However, I still recommand having a hardware router.

That person is not my friend and I could care less.  He wants it done and my work is between xbox <-> laptop, what happened between laptop and internet is his own responsibility.

When you said wireless adapter I think you meant the wireless bridge, that is absolutely an option but it would cost him additional $50 in hardware on the top of "technician labor fee" asking someone to set it up for him.
